Productive gardens in small growing spaces.
Vertical planters make a great "strawberry tower".
Vertical garden beds offer excellent productivity in a small footprint by providing added growing spaces on the sides of the planter.
The planting holes are 1.5 inches in diameter and drilled at an angle, to keep soil and water inside the planter. You can sow seeds directly into the holes, or plant seedlings by carefully inserting roots and covering with soil from above. For plants like strawberries and potatoes, the result is a tower of growth that fits on a small deck or patio.
Vertical garden planters keep fruit and vegetables off the ground where they are less vulnerable to pests and diseases. Vertical planters can be used along walls and the sides of houses where there is an abundance of sun but little ground soil.
Hexagon- and octagon-shaped planters work especially well for vertical gardening. The additional sides offer more planting surface and greater sun exposure.
